How Long After Cesarean Does Bleeding Stop (And Why)?

Exact Answer: After 2-6 weeks

Giving birth to a newborn is the most pleasurable moment ever. However, the pleasure comes with hardships and pain too. She has to go through a lot of discomfort for this experience. A lot of hormonal changes lead to unimaginable mood swings. The position of the baby plays the main character in determining whether normal delivery or a cesarean delivery will be best.

While normal delivery is normally known to be a little bit more painful, a cesarean is not. A lot of factors influence the growth and birth of the baby. Some things come into consideration while giving birth to a child. Various methods have been invented for the safety of the mother and the newborn. The exact answer is after two to six weeks.

This process is done for many reasons. Some of the main reasons are if the baby’s head is too broad to come out through the vaginal canal. If the baby is in a position keeping their shoulder towards the vagina, then cesarean is done. If the baby’s position is not correct according to gravity, then a cesarean is done. If there are signs of fetal distress where oxygen is deficient inside the fetal body, then also cesarean is done.

Some of the common causes of fetal distress are maternal illness, umbilical cord compression, blood vessel compression, etc. Like many surgical procedures, a cesarean requires anesthesia. Usually, a spinal block is given to the mother. This will numb the lower body giving no pain during the procedure. The mother will stay awake during the procedure. In case of emergency general anesthesia is given. In the spinal block, the mother can see the childbirth but can’t feel anything. In general anesthesia, the mother will fall asleep. The inappropriate condition leads to a cesarean process.

The physician will cut in the lower abdomen followed by the uterus. The cut is also made in the amniotic sac. Then the baby eased and pulled out through the incision. The procedure takes half an hour. Then the cord is cut and the uterus incisions are stitched together. There may be some vaginal bleeding for some weeks. That is normal for a cesarean procedure. As long as no side effects are shown after the process, it is considered a successful process. Mother is advised of the aftercare process. She will follow some medication for better healing.

Why Does Bleeding Stop So Long After Cesarean?

As of today’s date, c-section delivery is relatively normal. When normal delivery becomes difficult to continue we go for c section delivery. After c section delivery there are some rules to be followed by the mother. Bleeding happens for a few weeks which is normal for cesarean delivery. You will be advised to not do any hardcore work for few days. But the healing process starts some days after the process. Currently, degradable stitches are being used for better healing. You can do your normal household work within seven or eight days. But you will be advised not to strain your body for at least a month.

Doing intense work like washing clothes while sitting in a squat position is prohibited. You will be constrained from doing work out for at least six to seven months. Eating a proper diet these days is very important for a mother as well as for the baby. If bleeding happens for more than usual periods you will be advised to see a professional. Having sex with your partner is forbidden for three to four months after a c section delivery. Having intrauterine devices is also allowed after three to four months.

Being healthy and happy will help you heal quickly. You should eat only healthy things to make your baby healthy. Having a little amount of bleeding inside your vaginal wall is normal as the uterus contracts after a c section delivery. Medications should be followed for some time as prescribed for better and healthy healing. Bleeding and feeling weak are normal during these healing days.

Taking rest for a few weeks is very important to make the patient healthy as before. She can’t feel her feet for some hours under the effect of anesthesia. Having mild cramps in the uterus wall is normal. Patients can also experience nausea, vomiting, and uneasiness for some days but it becomes normal in a few days by itself. So you shouldn’t worry about that. The patient can feel dryness or thirsty sometimes so water intake in regular intervals is advised.

Patients should take more sanitary napkins to prevent bleeding leakage. Patients are advised to move from time to time to avoid gastric situations. Solid food intake can be advised once the patient starts to get stable and walk by herself.
