Layered Overnight Salad tells you to go on and get to bed while it does all the work for you. All you have to do is quickly layer all the fresh and crispy salad fixin’s and toss together the creamy and rich dressing. Then, you put it in the fridge and bid it sweet dreams as you drift off to sleep. And in the morning when you wake, Layered Overnight Salad will be bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and ready to feed you later at lunchtime! It’s just that simple!
Ingredients
- 8 cups leaf lettuce, torn into bite-size pieces
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 10 ounces frozen peas
- 1 (3-ounce) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 (14-ounce) can quartered artichoke hearts, drained and roughly chopped
- 1 (2.25-ounce) can sliced black olives, drained
- 1 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled, divided
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 3/4 cup sour cream
Directions
Step 1 –In a large glass dish, layer the lettuce, the onions, the peas, the water chestnuts, 3/4 of the cheese, the artichoke hearts, the black olives, and the 3/4 of the bacon.
Step 2 –In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise and the sour cream together and spread it over the top of the bacon.
Step 3 –Sprinkle the salad with the remaining cheese and the remaining bacon.
Step 4 –Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Step 5 –Serve.
