You read that right! There’s a little bit of boozy bonanza in these Stout Brownies. That’s what makes these fudgy, moist squares of brewed up brownies just so beloved! Ingredients
- 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup butter, cubed
- 1 cup milk stout beer
- 1 large egg, plus 2 large egg yolks, room temperature
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup baking cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 –Place the chocolate in a large bowl.
Step 3 –In a 10-inch cast iron skillet, combine the butter and the stout and bring to a boil.
Step 4 –Reduce the heat and simmer, stirring constantly, about 10 minutes.
Step 5 –In the large bowl, pour the stout mixture over the chocolate and stir with a whisk until it is smooth.
Step 6 –In a second large bowl, add the egg, the egg yolks, the sugar, and the brown sugar and beat with an electric hand mixer until it is combined.
Step 7 –Add the chocolate mixture to the egg mixture and stir until it is combined.
Step 8 –In a third large bowl, add the flour, the baking cocoa, and the salt, and mix, while gradually adding the chocolate mixture, until it is well-combined.
Step 9 –Pour the batter into the same cast-iron skillet and bake, about 25-30 minutes.
Step 10 –Place the cast-iron skillet on a wire rack and allow the brownies to cool completely, about 1 hour.
Step 11 –Cut the brownies into squares and serve.
