This is the kind of dish that brings smiles to everyone's faces and cheers as people bite into them. No one can resist Frosted Fudgy Brownies, because how could anyone say no to these beautiful baked goods?

Ingredients

For the brownies:

  • 1 cup plus 3 tablespoons butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the frosting:

  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 2/3 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk, 2%, plus more as needed

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

Step 3 –In a saucepan, melt 1 cup plus 3 tablespoons of butter.

Step 4 –Transfer the saucepan from the heat.

Step 5 –Stir in 3/4 cup cocoa and allow the mixture to cool.

Step 6 –In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until blended.

Step 7 –In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Step 8 –Gradually add the flour mixture to the egg mixture.

Step 9 –Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla and the cooled chocolate mixture until well blended.

Step 10 –Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan.

Step 11 –Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 25-28 minutes. If in doubt, lean towards underbaking rather than overbaking the brownies.

Step 12 –Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack.

Step 13 –In a large bowl, beat the remaining butter and confectioners’ sugar until light and fluffy, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 14 –Beat in the remaining cocoa and vanilla.

Step 15 –Add enough milk to achieve a spreadable consistency. You want it to be easily spreadable but not runny.

Step 16 –Spread the frosting over the cooled brownies.

Step 17 –Cut into bars and serve.
