Ingredients

  • 1 cup 2% milk, warmed to 70-80 degrees F
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1 large egg yolk, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon honey, plus more for optional brushing
  • 1 large egg white

Directions

Step 1 –In a bread machine pan, place the warm milk, the egg, the egg yolk, the canola oil, the honey, the salt, the bread flour, and the active dry yeast in the order suggested by the manufacturer.

Step 2 –Select the recommended dough setting and check the dough after 5 minutes of mixing, and add 1-2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed until the dough comes together.

Step 3 –When the cycle is completed, turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface.

Step 4 –Punch the dough down, then cover it and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Step 5 –Grease two 8-inch square baking pans.

Step 6 –Divide the dough into 24 pieces and shape each piece into a ball.

Step 7 –Place 12 balls in each of the prepared square baking pans and cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes.

Step 8 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 9 –Combine the sugar, the butter, the honey, and the egg white, drizzling the glaze over the dough.

Step 10 –Bake until golden brown, about 20-25 minutes. Brush with additional honey, if desired.

Step 11 –Serve and enjoy.
