LWA stands for Lost Wages Assistance. The program was established by former President Donald Trump on 8 August 2020 as a part of the government’s reaction to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It essentially provided $300 to $400 as an unemployment insurance benefit to people who had lost their jobs due to the ongoing worldwide pandemic. However, it had to be closed off during December 2020 due to the shortage of funding.

The program received funding from the FEMA, or Federal Emergency Management Administration through their Disaster Relief Funds. The people eligible for the program were calculated through their weekly benefit determination, which they received and should be of at least $100.
