Peachy-Keen French Toast

We don’t know about you, but we’re feeling peachy keen to whip up some Peachy-Keen French Toast! Floral, juicy peaches in a smoky, sweet brown sugar sauce, topped with thick bread soaked in a creamy custard and baked to a golden-brown. No wonder everyone who tries it is eager for more! Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup butter, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 (29-ounce) can sliced peaches, drained
  • 12 (3/4-inch-thick) slices French bread, day-old
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ground cinnamon, to taste

Directions

Step 1 –Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 2 –In a small saucepan, bring the brown sugar, the butter, and the water to a boil.

Step 3 –Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.

Step 4 –Pour the sauce mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Step 5 –Top the sauce with the peaches.

Step 6 –Arrange the bread over the peaches.

Step 7 –In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, the milk, and the vanilla together.

Step 8 –Slowly pour the egg mixture over the bread.

Step 9 –Cover the baking dish and refrigerate for at least 8 hours and up to overnight.

Step 10 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 11 –Transfer the baking dish from the fridge 30 minutes prior to baking and allow it to come to room temperature.

Step 12 –Sprinkle the casserole with the cinnamon.

Step 13 –Cover the baking dish and bake for 20 minutes.

Step 14 –Uncover and bake until a knife inserted in the center of the French toast comes out clean, about 25-30 minutes.

Step 15 –Serve.
