Ingredients
- 2 cups 2% milk
- 1 cup chicken broth or vegetable broth
- 1 cup water
- salt, to taste
- 1 cup old-fashioned grits, uncooked
- 2-3 cups sharp cheddar cheese or Monterey-Jack cheese, shredded
- pepper, to taste
Directions
Step 1 –In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the milk, the broth, and the water and bring it to a boil.
Step 2 –Add the salt and the grits to the milk mixture and whisk to combine.
Step 3 –Reduce the heat to low and cook the grits mixture, stirring frequently, until creamy, about 15-20 minutes.
Step 4 –Stir the cheese into the grits and cook until it has melted.
Step 5 –Season the grits with the salt and the pepper.
Step 6 –Serve.
