There can never be enough burgers, can there? At least, that’s the feeling we get while eating a particularly delicious burger; a feeling perfectly captured by the Bistro Burger Bake. Fortunately, there are plenty of burgers to go around with this casserole! Every bite has everything you could ever want in a burger: savory beef (of course), tangy and sweet condiments, juicy tomatoes, succulent bacon, and melty, sharp cheeses. It even has breadcrumbs for the toasted bun taste! Bistro Burger Bake is something you’ll be happy to have on your table; no drive-thru required!
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground chuck
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can petite diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 (16-ounce) package penne, cooked according to the package directions
- 2 cups Swiss cheese, shredded
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 10 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- fresh herbs, such as parsley leaves, optional, to taste, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 –Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Step 3 –In a large skillet, cook the ground chuck and the onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 4 –Drain the excess fat from the skillet.
Step 5 –Stir in the diced tomatoes, the ketchup, the mayonnaise, the Dijon mustard, and the salt.
Step 6 –Stir in the cooked penne, the Swiss cheese, and the cheddar cheese.
Step 7 –Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan.
Step 8 –Sprinkle the casserole with the breadcrumbs and the crumbled bacon.
Step 9 –Bake until heated through, about 20-30 minutes.
Step 10 –Garnish with the fresh herbs and serve hot.
