Caramelized Salmon

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar, plus more for sprinkling
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons coarse sea salt, pulsed gently in a food processor
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 16 ounces salmon, cut into 4 fillets, with skin
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the broiler to 450 degrees F.

Step 2 –Mix together the sugar, salt, and black pepper into a shallow bowl.

Step 3 –Dip each salmon fillet into the mixture, coating them.

Step 4 –Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat on the stovetop.

Step 5 –Place the fillets into the pan, skin-side down. Sauté for five minutes.

Step 6 –Flip each fillet and saute for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 7 –Sprinkle more sugar onto the salmon fillets.

Step 8 –Place the pan into the oven, allowing it to broil for about 5-10 minutes.

Step 9 –Allow the salmon to properly cool before peeling off the skin and serving.

Step 10 –Serve warm!
