Delicious Cinnamon Buttermilk Loaf

Sometimes, a special and easy dessert treat is just what the doctor ordered! Delicious Cinnamon Buttermilk Loaf is so simple, even the most basic of bakers can handle it and reap the reward of an extra tender cake infused with butter and tangy buttermilk. Better yet, it has a cinnamon-sugar swirl on the inside and a cinnamon-sugar topping, for double the warmth and sweetness. There are few pick-me-ups like this Delicious Cinnamon Buttermilk Loaf!

Ingredients

For the cinnamon-sugar:

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

For the buttermilk loaf:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment or baking paper.

Step 3 –In a bowl, add the brown sugar and the cinnamon and whisk to combine. Set it aside.

Step 4 –In a large bowl, add the butter and the white sugar and beat together until light and creamy.

Step 5 –Add the egg, the buttermilk, and the vanilla to the butter mixture and beat until well-combined.

Step 6 –Using a sifter, add the flour, the baking soda, and the salt to the butter mixture and mix until just combined.

Step 7 –Spoon 1/2 of the batter into the prepared loaf tin.

Step 8 –Sprinkle 1/2 of the cinnamon-sugar over the batter in the loaf pan.

Step 9 –Cover the cinnamon-sugar layer with the remaining batter.

Step 10 –Sprinkle the top of the batter with the remaining cinnamon-sugar.

Step 11 –Bake until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean, about 40-50 minutes.

Step 12 –Transfer the loaf from the oven and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.

Step 13 –Slice and serve.
