Easy Pan-Seared Scallops

Ever been intimidated by the thought of cooking scallops? It seems like it should be the exclusive domain of top-tier chefs. But Easy Pan-Seared Scallops shows that anyone can make this seafood treat! In just 10 minutes, you can whip up tender, buttery, juicy scallops with a delicious golden jacket. It’s such a (sea)breeze to make, you’ll wonder what worried you in the first place. Easy Pan-Seared Scallops pair well with fresh green salads and lemon potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound sea scallops
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 2 -Pat the scallops very dry with a paper towel.

Step 3 -Sprinkle the scallops with the salt and the pepper.

Step 4 -When the pan is hot, add the oil.

Step 5 -Once the oil is hot, place the scallops in the pan, giving them enough room in between so they don’t steam each other. The scallops should make a sizzling noise when they are placed in the pan.

Step 6 -Cook the scallops for 2 minutes, making sure not to move them or touch them at all.

Step 7 -Flip the scallops over with a pair of tongs, and add the butter to the pan.

Step 8 -Let the scallops cook until cooked to 145 degrees F, about 1 minute, basting the scallops with the butter throughout.

Step 9 -Remove the scallops from the pan.

Step 10 -Serve!
