Easy Pasta Skillet

Easy, peasy and very cheesy! Yep, that’s Easy Pasta Skillet for ya! This one-pot-stop brings you yummy angel hair pasta loaded with a ground turkey-infused, tangy tomato sauce that will make all your Italian dinner night dreams come true. It’s low effort, but high on the flavor and those are our favorite kind of dishes (but don’t tell the other ones we said that!). Easy Pasta Skillet is what every night should taste like!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium sweet red pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can fire-roasted diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can reduced-sodium beef broth
  • 1 (4-ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 8 ounces angel hair pasta, uncooked
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions

Step 1 –In a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat, add the turkey, the onion, and the red pepper and cook, while crumbling the meat, until the turkey is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain the excess grease.

Step 2 –Add the diced tomatoes, the fire-roasted tomatoes, the beef broth, the mushrooms, the brown sugar, and the chili powder to the meat mixture and bring it to a boil.

Step 3 –Reduce the heat and simmer the meat mixture, uncovered, for 30 minutes.

Step 4 –Add the pasta to the meat mixture and return it to a boil.

Step 5 –Reduce the heat, cover it, and simmer the pasta mixture until the pasta is tender, about 30-35 minutes.

Step 6 –Sprinkle the pasta mixture with the cheese, then cover and cook until it has melted, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 7 –Serve.
