Kentucky Hot Brown Casserole

The Kentucky Hot Brown is a luxurious open-faced turkey sandwich with nearly a century of history in its native state. Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) package rotini pasta
  • 1 (22-ounce) jar Alfredo sauce
  • 3 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 cups turkey, diced and roasted
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes, juices reserved
  • 1 cup bacon, cooked and diced
  • 1 cup mozzarella or Italian blend cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • herbs, optional, such basil, oregano, and parsley, chopped, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

Step 2 –In a large 9×13-inch baking dish, stir the rotini, the Alfredo sauce, the chicken broth, the turkey, the garlic, the tomatoes, and the bacon.

Step 3 –Cover the baking dish tightly.

Step 4 –Bake for 35 minutes.

Step 5 –Uncover and stir.

Step 6 –Check the pasta to ensure it is al dente. If not, cover the dish again and continue baking until it reaches al dente.

Step 7 –Sprinkle the mozzarella and the parmesan over the top of the pasta.

Step 8 –Bake uncovered until the cheese is melted and the pasta is tender, for about 10 minutes.

Step 9 –Garnish with the herbs.

Step 10 –Serve.
