You’ll be looking at Nutella®-Stuffed French Toast with all the heart-eyes the moment you smell it. This rich, sugary breakfast item tastes a lot more like dessert, but who doesn’t love dessert for breakfast?! Get your tastebuds ready for the beloved French toast slices that are literally filled with melty and smooth dark chocolate and creamy and warm Nutella. Drizzled with a sweet, sugary berry sauce and a sprinkle of light powdered sugar, your heart will be dancing with joy! Nutella-Stuffed French Toast is definitely the sweetest way to start off your Love Day!
Ingredients
For the berry sauce:
- 1/4 cup mixed berries
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1/4 cup water
For the French toast:
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2–3 tablespoons Nutella
- 2 thick slices brioche
- 2 bars dark chocolate
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
Directions
Step 1 –In a saucepan over medium-low heat, mix the berries, the white sugar, and the water and bring it to a simmer, then cook until the mixture has reduced slightly.
Step 2 –Lightly mash the fruit mixture with a fork.
Step 3 –In a large, shallow dish, whisk the egg, the milk, and the vanilla together.
Step 4 –Spread 2-3 tablespoons of the Nutella on 1 slice of the bread, then place the chocolate bars in the center of the spread.
Step 5 –Top the chocolate and Nutella-covered bread slice with the remaining bread slice.
Step 6 –Soak the sandwich in the egg mixture until it absorbs most of the mixture, about 1-2 minutes.
Step 7 –In a large frying pan, melt the butter.
Step 8 –Add the soaked sandwich to the melted butter and cook until it is golden, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Step 9 –Slice the sandwich in half, drizzle with the berry sauce, and sprinkle the powdered sugar.
Step 10 –Serve.
