Ingredients

For the honey garlic sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 7-8 cloves garlic, minced and divided
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

For the salad:

  • 2 chicken breasts, cooked and diced
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce
  • 2 heads romaine lettuce, chopped and washed
  • 3-6 tablespoons ranch dressing, or any dressing of choice
  • 1/2 medium red onion, diced
  • 1 large red bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cucumber, diced
  • cheese, optional, shredded, of your choice, to taste

Directions

Step 1 –In a small saucepan, add the soy sauce, the honey, the brown sugar, 5 of the garlic cloves (about 1 tablespoon), and the rice vinegar, whisking to combine.

Step 2 –In a small bowl, combine the water and the cornstarch, stirring with a spoon until all of the cornstarch has dissolved.

Step 3 –Pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan, stirring to combine.

Step 4 –Place the saucepan over medium heat and, whisking regularly, bring the mixture to a boil.

Step 7 –Transfer the sauce to a container or serving bowl and let it cool.

Step 8 –In a small bowl, add the cooked and diced chicken, the cooled honey garlic sauce, and the hot sauce, tossing to fully combine.

Step 9 –In a separate large bowl, toss the chopped romaine with the desired dressing.

Step 10 –Transfer the romaine to two large plates or bowls and top it with the red onions, the bell pepper, the cucumber, the cheese, and the hot honey chicken.

Step 11 –Serve immediately.
