Secret Ingredient Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 (2-count) refrigerated pie crust (extra crust reserved for another use)
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pumpkin purée
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • whipped cream, to taste, store-bought or homemade, for serving

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

Step 2 –Carefully unroll the pie crust and place it into a pie pan, crimping the edges.

Step 3 –In a bowl, add the melted butter, the brown sugar, and the pumpkin purée and use an electric hand mixer to mix until combined.

Step 4 –Add the eggs, the heavy cream, the sour cream, the pumpkin pie spice, and the vanilla to the pumpkin mixture and mix until it is thoroughly combined.

Step 5 –Pour the pie filling into the pie crust, taking care not to overfill it.

Step 6 –Wrap the edges of the pie crust with foil to prevent it from browning too quickly while baking.

Step 7 –Bake the pie for 15 minutes.

Step 8 –Reduce the heat to 350 degrees F, then bake the pie until it is set, about 40-50 minutes.

Step 9 –Place the pie on a wire rack and let it cool to room temperature, about 2-3 hours.

Step 10 –Slice and serve the pie topped with the whipped cream.
