How Long Do You Bake Bread (And Why)?

How Long Do You Bake Bread (And Why)?

Exact Answer: 20 Minutes To 25 Minutes

When calculating the time it would take for bread to get baked in the oven or the microwave, many factors play a vital role in increasing or decreasing the time.

Some of the major time determining factors could be the type of bread that is supposed to be baked, preheat temperatures of the oven, and other such factors.

The temperature of the ovenTime
350 degrees Fahrenheit30 to 40 minutes
375 degrees Fahrenheit20 to 30 minutes
425 degrees Fahrenheit15 to 20 minutes

Apart from several different factors, there is one major factor that determines the time for how long it would take to bake bread in the oven.

That major time determining factor is the heating temperature of the oven or the microwave in which the bread is supposed to be baked.

There are majorly three different temperatures of the oven or the microwave that are most suitable to bake loaves of bread. These three different temperatures are 350 degrees Fahrenheit, 375 degrees Fahrenheit, and lastly 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

On average, when the bread is baked at a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit, it would then take the maximum amount of time as compared to when bread is baked in the oven at a temperature of either 375 degrees Fahrenheit or 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

In most general cases, it takes around a minimum of 30 to a maximum of 40 minutes for bread to get baked in the oven at a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius.

Secondly, if the bread is baked in the oven which is set at a temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit, it would take a shorter time than the time it took to bake bread at a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

On average, it takes about a minimum of 20 minutes to a maximum of 30 minutes for the bread to get baked in the oven.

In the last case, that is if the temperature of the oven is increased from 375 degrees Fahrenheit to 425 degrees Fahrenheit, which is the highest temperature to bake bread, then the time it would take to bake bread would be the least.

In general, baking bread in the oven at a temperature of 425 degrees Fahrenheit, would take around a minimum of 15 minutes to a maximum of 20 minutes on average.

Why Does It Take That Long To Bake Bread?

It is quite obvious that as the temperature of the oven or the microwave would increase, the time it would take to bake bread in the oven would proportionally decrease.

Apart from the temperature at which the bread is being baked, the type of bread dough also plays a vital role in determining the time for how long it would take to bake bread in the oven. There are many ingredients that prominently decrease the time it takes to bake bread.

One of the major ingredients which can decrease the time to bake bread is baker’s yeast. This ingredient is used to increase the fluffiness of the bread, and it also reduces time. Baker’s yeast is majorly used by baker’s in the bread dough.

Bread dough which is prepared at home does not have such ingredients and thus as a result, it takes longer for homemade bread dough to get baked in the oven as compared to the bread dough which is prepared in bakeries by professionals.

In most general cases, the time it takes to bake bread decreases from about a minimum of 5 minutes to a maximum of 10 minutes after the temperature of the oven has shifted from 350 degrees Fahrenheit to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Conclusions

If the oven in which bread is supposed to be baked is preheated then it would take even less time for them to get baked. In simple words, if the oven is preheated, then the time it takes for bread to get baked in the oven can be reduced from a minimum of 7 minutes to a maximum of 12 minutes.

Apart from that, pricking the bread dough before putting them in the oven can also make them get baked faster because, in this way, heat can easily pass through the bread dough making it get baked faster.
