Technology is increasing day by day. People are shifting to virtual dating through phone or computer appointments or making virtual appointments. Meeting in person has however faded these days. If you have been officially dating your partner for a few months or most of the past decade, you may be wondering how you know when I hit the “sweet spot”. However, this is the time to get involved. When people on your Facebook feed start flaunting a diamond ring after seeing someone for less than a year while the high school sweetheart you know goes without a ring for decades, it’s no surprise you are confused. The results showed that couples who were together an average of 25 months before marriage were happier married at the end of the study. The study also looked at couples who married the fastest. In a happy marriage, they share the most fundamental aspects of a relationship that are most important in determining whether a future marriage is permanent. The purpose of dating is to get familiar with your partner and know him/her as much as possible before marriage, with the ultimate goal of having a successful and lasting marriage. In Project PAIR, Professor Ted L. Huston followed 168 newlywed couples for 14 years and recorded the relationship satisfaction of each couple at all times.

Another recent study published by Emory University researchers after 3,000 couples found that those who were together for three or more years were 39 percent less likely to divorce than those who were together for less than a year. Couples who were together for two years were 20 percent less likely to break up.

All these studies are directed to one conclusion. It says that those couples who tend to wait for the longest to marry were the most satisfied in their longstanding marriage and the least likely to be divorced. For most, this may be the recommended time, but experts have certainly recognized that a successful marriage is more about preparation than just time.
